In 2010, he graduated with a Bachelor in Film & Television (FTV) from the Swinburne University of Technology, Australia. His final project, “BREAK”, a film about love and betrayal, received several awards including the Gold Remi Award at the 44th Annual WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival, the Orson Welles Award at the California Film Awards, the Denail Award at the Alaska International Film Awards, the Award of Excellence and Best Actor (Student) at the Los Angeles Movie Awards 2011.
In 2011, “THE TEAM”, that he wrote, directed, produced and edited won the “Overall Best Film” and “Best Editing” at Cine65.sg, a Singapore film competition, the “You Are Only Young Once” award at the Very Short International Film Festival 2012. The short film was also recently invited to screen under a special program at the Short Shorts Film Festival Asia 2012.
Ray, among other 13 artists, was chosen to represent Singapore in the first World Event Young Artists (WEYA), organised alongside the London 2012 Olympics, a global art & culture event held in Nottingham, United Kingdom.
He was also awarded the “Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World” – 2012 Singapore Merit Awardee by JCI TOYP.
Ray’s love for films encourages him to support quality films to be screened in Singapore. He was the representative Ambassador for “Shnit International Short Film Festival” (Singapore) and Jury of 48 Hour Film Project (Singapore) for three consecutive years.
Ray’s film, “Closer To Me” has been shortlisted as the only Singaporean film to make it for the Jury’s Award and People’s Choice Award ofLouis Vuitton’s second edition Journey Awards contest.
In Japan, Sapporo, he won an “Airport Award” at the Festival Asia TV&FILM on Journey.
The film later participated in the 66th Festival de Cannes’s Short Film Corner.
In 2012, Ray was nominated as the finalist for Yahoo Singapore 9 and runner up for Entertainment Category.
Ray was invited to screen some of his films at the 8th Sapporo Short Fest 2013 under a special program “Asian Typhoon”. Currently, Ray is a member for the “Producer & Director Network ASIA” in Japan.
